Is legal transcription for me?

Transcribing involves more than just typing fast and/or accurately. Certainly, that is a big part of the job, but just as important is having a “good ear”, hearing accurately, even when more than one person is speaking, and being able to follow style-guides with accuracy, is key to producing a quality transcript. If you are interested in transcription, and would like to explore further, or just hone your existing skills before applying, please make use of the resources below.

Set up your legal transcription audio player

Candidates Must:

  • Reside in the UK or ROI (depending on entity engaging with)
  • Be legally entitled to work in the UK or ROI (depending on entity engaging with)
  • Have a current UK/ROI bank account to receive payment (depending on entity engaging with)
  • Have a dedicated Windows computer equipped with Microsoft Word 2010 or higher and be confident in its use
  • Have a stable Internet connection
  • Have an excellent understanding of the English language, grammar, punctuation, etc
  • Be confident in the use of technology and creating documents to the highest standard
  • Be confident in using the Internet to research case information/references
  • Be committed to producing high quality transcription and ensuring the final transcript is complete and accurate
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Be a good communicator to ensure the best possible service
  • Be looking for work on a freelance (self-employed) basis only (ie, the volume of work offered can vary)

Other Advantages:
